911

Today is September 11, 2011. For a lot of you, this day is just a normal Sunday– but for America it’s the 10th anniversary of the day the Twin Towers came down in the World Trade Center of New York. I was too young to understand what was happening back then, but I remember watching the Twin Towers come crashing down on the News in my classroom. I don’t know anyone who was in the tragic accident that is 9/11, but I sympathize for those who lost a loved one.
The reason why I am making this post is because I want all of you to take the time to show a little appreciation for those around you. Give a little thanks to your parents, siblings, relatives, friends, and co-workers. Whether you’re from Europe, Asia, America, Australia–it doesn’t matter. Tell them you love them and you appreciate them. Because tomorrow is never guaranteed.

I'm Izirae. I am the co-founder of Simple Scanlations, and am now currently the owner of Simple. I nerd it up with my own server, Dreamweaver obsessions and Photoshop addictions. Ironically, I suck at drawing. My name originates from a Nintendo DS game, Final Fantasy III--I literally made up the name for a guy, then decided I'd use it myself. That was a mistake. But my real name is...something horrible. yealo is my ex-wife and Edek is my husband-to-be. But this in no way implies I am anything other than heterosexual. TMI? I'm an American and I love manga!

Yes, it was very tragic that so many people died on that day, my cousin’s birthday… but ummmmm more people than that die every day in third world countries and yet you never see that on the news. It bothers me that if a person is from a certain country (in this case, the US) their death is seen as more tragic & important & deserving of media attention… I do feel bad about their deaths but I hope the families can move on which I know, personally, is very hard to do when thousands of other deaths have followed since in the war that is still on-going.

@??? Btw it was extremists not normal Muslims who were responsible… At least get your facts straight before making such a prejudiced comment. -_-

What you said about their being thousands of deaths everyday…yes. I KNOW that. People die all the time; there’s people dying right now. However, terrorist attacks of this caliber do NOT happen everyday.
Also, read the entire post before commenting.
I mean, seriously…-.- The reason I made this post is because I’m an American and this was a big deal.
Take it up with the media about their lack of attention to every single death of every human being.

      @???
It’s people like you who contribute to the hatred amongst mankind.

I don’t dislike preaching about unity between different people.

I don’t dislike mourning for lost ones.

I dislike blowing things out of proportions. There’s been about a million deaths in the Iraq war with a large majority being civilian excessive deaths, but you don’t hear about America mourning for those lives lost, it doesn’t even get close as touching as under 3000 Americans losing their lives in their own eyes.

It’s just like when disaster hit and a lot of Japanese and Australian students died, and the Japanese wanted more compensation than the Australians had gotten since “they believed their students to be a more tragic loss for the future and that the parents had put more hopes in them”.

What you are doing is just the same, and while we’re on equality I believe it would be fitting if you made 200 posts for the civilians dead in the Iraq war, and terrorist attacks being a lot more tragic than excessive deaths due to recklessness in an arms campaign is something I do not believe in.

Please, for the love of god forget, or start taking notice of the world around you.

And don’t even get me started of the Americans going “REVENGE FOR PEARL HARBOR” when the tsunami hit.

I was in Japan at that time, but I do respect the souls who were sent away from this human realm because of immoral reasons. May their spirits rest in peace…
