Well I must say I don’t like watermarks, but I don’t really mind them either and I do understand why you put them in, which is one of the reasons they don’t bother me much. I always try and read/download manga directly from the scanlators site to support you all. Many times when I’m searching for something new to read (unfornuately usually on one of NOEZ’s sites) and when I find something I like I try and find out who is scanlating it to find out how far along they are or if it was dropped or what not (nothing sucks more than starting something and not getting to finish it) and the “reader” sites have removed the credits page >.< So I'm left with baka to try and find who is scanlating it, but with watermarks it kind of makes it easy

So keep up the good work I love the series that you all do and whatever you decide on wm's is fine with me because without you I'd be struggling through the raws and google translator @_@

I am no programmer but are there any calls for browsers that disable the prnt screen button? Is it also possible for browsers to hide images if they are out of focus? to avoif the print screen key press used on another programme in the background like notepad. The only issue I see even if these two things are possible is with the fact that the browser downloads the images anyway to render them on screen meaning they will be in the cache (I think?), same for a flash viewer? If you can find workarounds for these problems then I think its worthwhile removing watermarks otherwise keep them. Just for the record I started out reading manga on sites like mangafox and then moved onto finding the relavant scanlation groups. I think websites like mangafox are usefull in giving people an easy way to actually access manga who would otherwise have no idea on where to start. I agree that making money is not right though.

i wouldn’t mind the watermarks if they were more tasteful. as it stands they’re kind of jarring and make the manga hard to read.

I don’t mind watermarks either. The problem is, a lot of people who finally realise that they can start reading scanlations on the internet do go to places like Mangafox just because they are literally the first few things that come up on Google. They have no idea that MF etc rip scanlators off. I only found out about this a few weeks ago. I think having watermarks are a good thing because that’s how I found about the various scanlating groups and started visiting their sites to see their other projects. I think that MF will always be able to steal work no matter what groups do because they have a huge team behind them, but having even a small watermark or at least something that says your group’s name will encourage readers to start visiting you more than MF as it’s straight to the source. Maybe everyone needs to have a link on their site explaining how MF etc work and when people visit you guys for the first time they’ll be made aware

A quick question, can Mangafox steal the pages from the online reader? If not, why dont you just stop putting download links and the only way to read it will be from your site? You can put the dl links after a month with a note ‘go to hell mangafox’ lol. If they could however, well f**k them!

I actually don’t mind the watermarking of your manga, it doesn’t really affect the ability to read anything (except for the 2 newest chapters of Tsuki Tsuki on the online reader ^^;). The tiny logo on every 2? pages doesn’t affect reading at all… I don’t get why people are so anal about it… Just ignore the douches who won’t wait 1 or so week(s) for a clean release if you continue. Anyway, keep up the great work!

Watermark or not? I’ll support you. And also support mangaka by purchasing my favorite manga in the Japanese language comic too. Last I’d like to read batoto nowaday xD. Or come to visit here myself. Mangafox is really now so slow.

Why would I need to hold back anything…? I am all for freedom of speech. This is the internet anyway–you’re going to have clashing opinions everywhere.
And though I do not care about the “appearance” of our group, I also think the readers should be able to speak out. If that’s contradictory, then what can I say?
Also…do you think that I haven’t asked the staff what they feel about wm’ing? I have. Those who were against it or those who weren’t, have already had this discussion with me.
I think that most, if not all, can see why watermarking is kind of a necessity.

Negative attention? From what? Watermarking? Watermarking is now becoming a much more widespread thing. In fact, by the end of the year, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were hundreds of groups doing it. It’s the sad truth, but perhaps it’s best this way…
-sigh- I only want to find a way to avoid watermarking, which is the reason why I made this post. If I cannot, then I will continue doing it.

The people who are in support of watermarks are not a minority. They are most scanlators and a lot of readers.
When I say they support them, I mean that they support the REASON for them.
The point is to prevent aggregators from making money off something that isn’t supposed to be for profit.

I still live at home. I don’t pay for my internet, nor will I ever have to (I’m a mooch ).
Yes, all the money we “make” is put towards raws and what have you for this group.
I’m the only person with access to our accounts and I make my own money for my real-life expenses.
